A personal note from RTR4C Executive Director, Nancy Ballard
Often when December rolls around we wonder where the year went? And with such speed. And then, when we pause and reflect, we are able to count our blessing. And we at RTR have so many blessings to count including big changes coming in 2019
Effective January 1, 2019 I will be stepping down as Executive Director.
This was a very bitter sweet decision to make. I started RoomsThatRock4Chemo seven years ago when I was sixty years old. I thought I was done working - looking forward to retirement, spare time, no plans…
I am so grateful to everyone that has ever worked on a project with me, to those that volunteered their time to help, fund, and “gala” us - to all those that believe in our mission. I know there are thousands of you sweet and generous souls, old friends and new, and I thank you each with a humble heart. I step down with the knowledge that we have, together, completed 23 projects, that impact over 500,000 patient visits per year! I never in my wildest dreams thought this was possible and will always be in awe of the amazing miracles we have created together.
I am blessed I was able to travel the country and meet new and forever friends on projects. I am blessed I was able to go to San Salvador TWICE and experience the kindness, gratitude, and joy of those I was fortunate enough to meet and work worth.
Our new Executive Director, John Ngo, was chosen for his willingness to work hard, keep our mission alive, our brand strong, to maintain our integrity, and work on projects that impact those whom will benefit from an uplifting environmental transformation.
Our current board members Erin Collier, Par Hanji, Lauren Anthony, and Hannah Mobarekeh will remain and help John thru the transition. My sincere thank you. New Mama’s Kelly Sabella (two sons under two) and Alicia Bar, (ready to a mom any day now), are resigning from their board seats as they are needed at home.If you are interested in being on the board, please contact John. We are accepting applications/resumes thru December 15th.
We completed three projects in 2018, all located in Sonoma County, CA. We chose facilities in Sonoma County after the devastating fires in 2017 caused such devastation. These projects also helped us broaden our scope to meet the needs of the community. I invite you to look on our website for fabulous photos and details.
Mark West Pre School in Santa Rosa CA.
Santa Rosa Memorial Hosptial Oncology Center/Red Barn, Santa Rosa CA.
We couldn’t have done these projects without the generous funding from Umpqua Bank, Bethlehem Foundation, and The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and the tremendous community involvement from Christopherson Builders, Annies Snacks, and Smith Group.
Once again, thank you for the privilege of working and playing with all who contributed so much for those you knew you would never meet. We have two projects on the books for early 2019, both in Sonoma County. Please contact us if you are interested in donating any of your time, talents, and funds! You’ll love it!
I will cherish forever my time as Executive Director and will always be the most grateful Founder and enthusiastic RTR cheerleader. And so, I will stay on as a consultant and board member as I “retire” again…I can’t imagine what is next!
With my love,
